Claire Grbavec:
Claire has been refereeing for four years through Lakehill Soccer Association. She started as a Small Sided Official and is now a Full Field Youth Referee, soon be a District Referee. Claire enjoyed officiating at the Stafford Cup finals and more recently she refereed a Tier 3 B Cup Island final. Claire enjoys working with her officiating partners and the support she receives from her mentors. In the future, Claire wants to continue to improve her officiating skills and follow the referee pathway to achieve the provincial and national levels.
Claire currently plays on a U17 Tier 3 team that has qualified for the provincials in July. During the 2022 season, she played for the Reynolds Secondary Junior team, which came first in both the city and on the Island.
Claire’s outside interests include competing in Highland Dance, baking and spending time with friends. After high school graduation, she plans on studying business at university then pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Claire also enjoys travel.
Liam Caffrey:
Liam is a Lakehill soccer referee who has been refereeing for several years as both a Small Sided and a Full Field Youth Official. Liam has stated that he has really benefited from the Mentorship Program at LH so he was able to learn the fundamentals of refereeing quickly and efficiently, and that there are lots of AR opportunities as Lakehill provides 2 AR’s for all games. Liam hopes to continue being a referee for at least a few more years so he can continue to improve his soccer knowledge.
Liam plays for the U15 Tier 3 and Tier 2 Lakehill teams. He has played on the team for three years and has been playing soccer since he was five.
Liam is in his first year of high school at Reynolds in the soccer program. He has always worked just as hard in school as he does in soccer games whether as either a player or a referee. In his spare time, Liam likes to read and play video games. He hopes to attend a University where he’s able to play for the University’s soccer team. Liam is very involved in the Lakehill community and is grateful for this recognition !
