Referee of the Month – Sarah Hoffer

Sarah Hoffer first began refereeing as a Small Sided referee in 2016. She has proven to be a very capable referee of both boys and girls’ youth league games in Sooke and has expanded her level of refereeing to the BCSPL, the Provincials, the District Cup finals and the Island finals. Sarah has demonstrated her ability to referee all assigned age groups. This also includes being able to perform the duties of an assistant referee in adult men’s and women’s games. In 2022, Sarah has begun to referee games for the LIWSA which demonstrates her commitment to developing her referee prowess.

Sarah has devoted a lot of time to supporting the youth in Sooke. She began coaching in Sooke with the super-8 teams and also mentoring younger referees who get assigned to A/R for her games.

Sarah’s pursuit of excellence is on a trajectory to attend the next upgrade course to achieve Regional Referee status and has a dream to work her way to the FIFA level.

Outside of soccer, Sarah has hopes to pursue the medical field as a nurse or perhaps a physiotherapist. Congratulations Sarah on being recognized as the LISA “Referee of the Month!”
