In April of 2012 Lower Island Soccer Association made a commitment to mandate coach certification in the LISA district by the summer of 2015 and the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

“The support of the club Presidents to increase fees in order to pay for coach certification shows that the clubs and the district are invested in the development of the game, and improving the level of coaching for all players across our district” commented LISA head coach Andrew Latham.

“Our goal is to certify 550 coaches by the summer of 2015 and then to commit to certify evey new coach in their first year of coaching”.

Over the past 18 months over 400 coaches have attended courses in the LISA district, therefore LISA is well on its way to hitting the target in 2015.

In June, the Canadian Soccer Association officially launched its Long Term Player Development program called Wellness to World Cup. We suggest that when you open the link you first look at the brochure that overviews the seven stages (12 pages) before taking a more in-depth look at the document (60 pages).
