Dave Ravenhill (left centre) receives the VISL President’s Award

Lower Island Soccer Association is deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Dave Ravenhill.  A prominent member of the Victoria soccer community “Raves”, as he was affectionately known, was an outstanding player with the University of Victoria, Victoria Vistas, and multiple clubs in a long career in the VISL (you can view his long list of accomplishments here).  Off the field he was a dedicated husband, father, coach, and educator and influenced the lives of thousands of youth players and students in Victoria.  A teacher at Reynolds Secondary for nearly 30 years he was instrumental in the start up of the school’s Centre for Soccer Excellence.  His dedication to the sport was seemingly endless as evidenced by this past season where he was an assistant coach of both the VI Wave in the BCSPL and Div 1 Bays United in the VISL, coached and taught at the Reynold’s Centre for Soccer Excellence, and still found time to play with the UVic Alumni!  His time, effort, and aforementioned dedication to the game of soccer was unmatched and he will truly be missed.

LISA and its member clubs send its sincere condolences to his family, wife Karen, and two boys, Adam and Andrew.
