Footballers of the Week
While we patiently await the day we can return to pitch the United Football Group (VISL, LIWSA, PFC, and LISA) have decided to recognize outstanding members from within our organizations who work in Health and Essential service sectors as a small token of our thanks.
Lower Island Soccer Association is extremely proud to nominate Dr. Omar Ahmad and Hans Crljenkovic as this week’s joint Footballers of the Week! Simply put these two are leading the lines in the charge against Covid-19 for team Island Health! Dr. Ahmad is the Department Head in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine with Island Health while Hans Crljenkovic is the manager of South Island Respiratory Therapy Services for Island Health. Both are self-defined footy fanatics and dedicated coaches spending countless hours on the pitch supporting their children and clubs, Omar with Saanich Fusion and Hans with Gorge FC. Omar has spent time on the Saanich Fusion Board of Directors and recently joined the Lower Island Soccer Association Board of Directors. We cannot thank them or their co-workers enough for their continued dedication towards keeping us safe and their contributions to the game of soccer!
Both would like to pass on the message “Thank-you to our amazing soccer community for staying home, being safe and waiting patiently to return to the pitch. We can’t wait to see everyone juggling balls soon!”
