Footballer of the Week:
Wave 2005 Girls
Lower Island has put forth Chloe Thompson for this week’s footballer of the week. Chloe has recently helped lead the 2005 Wave Girls to win the 2005 Phase 2 play-offs. She is a prolific striker who has a dominating presence in front of the goal. Starting at the age of 5, Chloe grew up playing at the JDF Soccer Association before entering into the VI Wave program. Along with her Wave commitment, she previously attended the Royal Bay High Performance Academy, and now attends Belmont High School. She has also been a member of the EPIC Academy and the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy.
On January 29th of this year, Chloe was med-evac’d to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver to treat a large abdominal tumor. After a 6.5 hour surgery, her doctors determined that the tumor could not be removed without compromising other vital organs. Later they confirmed a diagnosis of B-cell non-hodgkins lymphoma.
Chloe must stay in the hospital on the mainland for the duration of her treatment, current anticipated to be 6 months.
A Go Fund Me page has been started to help raise money for her and her family. If you are interested in helping out, please follow this link to make a donation:

Chloe is a competitor and a winner. She is going to beat this cancer and we look forward to seeing her back on the pitch.
