Re-scheduling notice for Nov. 17/18 and LISA Cup draw
The next round of the fifth annual LISA Cup competition takes place the weekend of November 17/18. The complete draw for the next round of the LISA Cup can be found HERE.
Except for Boys U16/15 all LISA Cup draws will be at the quarter-final stage of their competition November 17/18. Because there were more than 16 teams in the Boys U16/15 draw they will be playing Round 2 games November 17. An additional LISA Cup round (date to be announced) will be scheduled to take place prior to their semi-final round. The semi-finals for all LISA Cup draws are scheduled for the weekend of January 19/20, 2019.
NOTE: After the Boys U16/15 draw for Round 2 was conducted LISA received notification that the U16 Peninsula Wsanec Celosen team had folded. Their LISA Cup opponent for November 17, U15 Peninsula Peljhan, has been awarded a forfeit victory and advances to the quarter-final round. That means on November 17 U15 Peninsula Peljhan will have a bye (no game to play) as all the other Boys U15 Silver teams will be playing in the LISA Cup playdowns. (The Peninsula Wsanec Celosen team will be removed from the Boys U16 Silver league schedule. Their spot for Round 2 onward will become a bye and their unplayed games in Round 1 will be forfeit victories for their opponents. Their Nov. 3 and Nov.10 league opponents, Salt Spring United and Sooke Linell, will now have byes.)
There are two pages to the LISA Cup draw. Also attached is the master re-scheduling notice for November 17/18. The re-scheduling notice is two pages in length. As those teams playing in the LISA Cup will not be available to play their league games as originally scheduled for November 17/18 league schedules for that weekend had to be revised.
The November 17/18 master re-scheduling notice is for Silver leagues only. There are no changes to the Gold schedules as the Gold teams are not eligible to compete in the LISA Cup.
Master Re-scheduling Notice November 17/18
Both the LISA Cup draw and the re-scheduling notice will be posted on the LISA website.
Please note that some teams that are still alive in the LISA Cup competition drew byes for the Nov. 17/18 rounds of the LISA Cup playdowns. Those teams have advanced to their semi-final rounds January 19/20. The teams that drew those byes are identified on the LISA Cup draw document but that does not mean they do not have a game to play November 17/18. It only means they do not have a LISA Cup match to play that weekend.
Those LISA Cup bye teams need to check the master re-scheduling document for November 17/18 as most of them will have a league game to play. That league game will either be an outstanding game, their league game originally scheduled for November 17/18 or a league game that they are to play in advance of the date for which it was originally scheduled.
To confirm, teams playing in the LISA Cup November 17/18 are to play their LISA Cup match instead of their originally-scheduled league game.
Teams not playing in the LISA Cup (i.e. teams eliminated in the opening round and teams with LISA Cup byes) are to play the game listed in the master re-scheduling notice. Any league game originally scheduled for November 17/18 that is not played that weekend will become an outstanding game.
When looking for scores on the LISA website for your league games your games are identified by the date for which they were originally scheduled, not the date on which they were played. When reporting scores for outstanding games or games that LISA has re-scheduled in advance of their original date please include the date for which that game was originally scheduled.
Please do not assume everyone who should receive the November 17/18 re-scheduling notice (for LISA Cup matches and league games) will receive it. Make sure you contact your opponent early enough in order to make the proper arrangements and to confirm your game.
The master re-scheduling notice for November 17/18 includes three leagues for which there are games to be played in advance of their original date. When the original date arrives those games will have already been played so please note the following for those three leagues:
BOYS U14 SILVER – league games from January 26 Round 2 will be played in advance on November 17 (see the master re-scheduling notice). Therefore during the week leading up to January 26 a re-scheduling notice will be distributed revising the Boys U14 Silver schedule for January 26.
BOYS U18/17 SILVER – a December 16 Round 3 league game, Juan de Fuca Johnson hosting Cowichan Valley Robinson, will be played in advance on November 18. Therefore on Sunday, December 16, those two teams are to play their February 10 Round 4 fixture, Cowichan Valley Robinson hosting Juan de Fuca Johnson. During the week leading up to February 10 a re-scheduling notice will be distributed revising the Boys U18/17 Silver schedule for February 10.
GIRLS U14 SILVER – a January 19 Round 2 league game, Peninsula Turnbull hosting Bays United Dunkley/Dorian (formerly BU Major), will be played in advance on November 17. Therefore during the week leading up to January 19 a re-scheduling notice will be distributed revising the Girls U14 Silver schedule for January 19.
LISA CUP
The fifth annual LISA Cup competition began with the opening round October 20. The LISA Cup is for U14 to U18 club teams playing in Silver or Bronze leagues within the Lower Island district. It is a different cup competition than the Lower Island District Cup or any other competition including league play which determines the league champion.
The LISA Cup will be played in single-elimination format (winners advance; losers are eliminated; separate draws done for each round) throughout the Lower Island league season. The LISA Cup is only for Silver and Bronze teams. Gold teams are not eligible for the LISA Cup. In addition, any team that enters the BCSA Provincial B Cup (or Provincial A Cup or Provincial Premier Cup) is also not eligible.
The 2018/19 LISA Cup competition is offered in the following age groups: Boys U14; Boys U16/15 combined; Boys U18/17 combined; Girls U14; Girls U16/15 combined; and Girls U18/17 combined.
Round 1 was October 20. The next round (Round 2 for Boys U16/15 and for all other draws, their quarter-final round) is scheduled for the weekend of November 17/18. The semi-final round for all draws is set for January 19/20; and the LISA Cup finals will take place February 9/10.
All the February 9/10 finals will take place at PISE (game day/start time TBA). An awards ceremony and presentation of the LISA Cup will follow each match.
If there were more than eight teams in your LISA Cup competition then you started play in the opening round, October 20. If your draw did not have more than eight teams entered then you start your LISA Cup competition at the quarter-final stage, Nov. 17/18. Boys U14, Boys U16/15 and Girls U14 all started their playdowns October 20. Those three groups will be joined by Boys U18/17, Girls U16/15 and Girls U18/17 who all begin their playdowns Nov. 17/18.
LISA Cup matches have priority over any league game scheduled for that day.
November 17/18 LISA Cup Round
The LISA Cup matches to be played November 17/18 will reduce the number of teams still alive in each LISA Cup draw to four for their semi-final round – except as mentioned in Boys U16/15 which will require an additional round prior to their semi-finals. In some draws not all the teams still alive in their playdowns will be needed for their quarter-final round. Therefore some teams will receive a bye into their semi-finals. If a team had a bye for the opening round that team must play in the quarter-finals and will not receive a November 17/18 bye.
THERE MUST BE A WINNER IN EACH LISA CUP MATCH
If the score is tied at the end of regulation time NO extra time (i.e. overtime) will be played. At the end of regulation time if the score is tied then the result of the match will be determined by kicks from the penalty spot according to FIFA rules.
NO EXTRA TIME, NO REPLAYS – STRAIGHT TO PENALTIES
NO youth-to-youth permits are allowed for cup competitions, including the LISA Cup.
If the host club can not supply a field to play a LISA Cup match then the visiting team must contact their club to see if the visiting club can host the match. If the visiting club can host the match as scheduled then the teams must play the match at the field supplied by the visiting club.
Any LISA Cup match not played as scheduled on November 17/18 becomes the responsibility of the two teams involved to make sure it is played prior to their semi-finals (January 19/20). However, if LISA decides to re-schedule an outstanding LISA Cup match it will be played as re-scheduled by LISA. If an outstanding LISA Cup match is not played in time for the next round then a coin toss conducted by LISA will determine which team advances to the next round.
All LISA Cup winners and any bye team will be re-entered into a random draw for the semi-finals.
NOTE: BOTH teams must report the score of their LISA Cup match to their league score recorder (listed on the LISA website below your league schedule).
When reporting your score please identify it as a LISA Cup match. If the match was decided by penalty kicks please report the tied score at the end of regulation and which team won the FIFA penalty shootout.
If you know how many PKs each team took during the shootout and how many goals they scored with those PKs please include that data as well. Do not add the PK goals onto the goals scored during regulation; do not add an extra goal to the game score of the team that won the penalty shootout; the game score (which was a draw) and the result of the penalty shootout should be reported separately.
Best of luck to all teams competing in the LISA Cup
