Koby Greaves- Westcastle United

The Footballer of the Week is Koby Greaves; playing with Westcastle in VISL’s Division 1.

For Westcastle, he has been the player of the week every week!

Tireless running for 90 mins every game, skillfully distributing the ball from centre midfield, never shying away from a tackle and skipping away from most. What Koby loves to deliver on –  goals from free-kicks!

Koby loves the game. Son of a local goalscorer, Darcy Greaves, he started playing at Lakehill aged 4 and then moved on to Gorge, Bays United, Futbolitas and V.I. Wave before joining Westcastle this year at age 18. He is in his second year at Pacific Soccer Institute.

Koby says: “Throughout my soccer career, I’ve been been fortunate enough to have many great coaches who have been influencial in my development as a player and a person.”

His favorite soccer memories began with winning the Colonist Cup in grade 11 and later playing in Provincial Cup Games. “More recently I had the exciting opportunity to travel to Germany on trial with a professional club.”

Westcastle feel Koby will get other similar opportunities and regret that they will lose such a dedicated, talented, self-confident yet modest and polite young man.

For Koby “I look forward to the rest of the season with Westcastle.”

On a personal side – Koby’s favorite player is Ronaldo.

His 2 teams to support are Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Not many superstitions to divulge, but enjoys listening to rap before the game and giving his dad a hug.

Another interesting fact about Koby………..he wears black boots!!

Congrats Koby.  Westcastle, the VISL, and membership alike wish him all best where ever his soccer career takes him

Koby will receive a Gift Certificate from VISL Gold Sponsor 1550’s Pub Style Restaurant and a newly produced tshirt from TeamSales.
